The Cuisinart is the best counter top cooking device I have. I never need to use the conventional oven unless cooking for more than my wife and myself. Save electricity, cooks faster, easy clean-up and doesn't heat up the kitchen. This is my second unit. One in our main home and one in our vacation home.
This is a great little oven...much more than a toaster. We've used it for cookies, pizza, toast, etc. It heats up really quickly and does a great job. Yes, it gets hot so be careful opening it and teach your older children who may be using it to be careful. Yes, it's a little noisy while it's cooking, but this doesn't bother us at all. We rented a beach house that had this nifty oven in it and loved it....that is why we chose to purchase one for ourselves and haven't been disappointed at all.
Historically we haven't used our toaster ovens for much more than making toast and reheating foods that prefer thermal to microwave heat, so I'm not really qualified to discuss toaster oven functions beyond those. But on those I'm pretty expert if only by sheer volume. The TOB-195 is perfect for us. It toasts evenly and we don't forget and leave food in too long like we've done with previous t.o.'s. That's pretty much my review: what it does it does well and for us has been well worth the price, especially after the shoddy B&D we'd been limping along with. Others have been critical of the fact that it doesn't turn off the heating elements when the door is open. Neither does a regular oven, so we treat it like a regular oven; no burns so far. It also doesn't scoot the food out when the door is open (again like a regular oven), the trade-off being an adjustable shelf which we'd rather have anyway. We would definitely buy this one again and would recommend it to friends.
I bought this one with less than $150 at Amazon and it is a great deal for such a well built oven! There is one strong criticisms on this product ... most likely "finger burn holding the handle". How spoiled they are! When you touch hot surface, protect yourself! Learn how to use rather than blaming others! In our household, everyone holds handle with palm up! No brainer! I don't know when we adapted the habit but I believe it was long time ago. Also the fan noise of convection mode is surprisingly quiet considering the size of fan. I saw many reviews complaining the noise but they don't know how difficult it is to make small fans move large amount of air quietly (Have you seen quiet small vacuum cleaners? Never!) What I am saying is patient way of saying "Don't have unreasonable expectation and criticize when you can't have it". Other person says overly complicated operation! C'mon! It took less than a few minutes to read and learn from user's manual. It is one time deal and easier than going to bathroom! Don't people know the Electronic digital controls made Home appliances much more reliable because there is less physical wear? (I appreciate the small foot print because of it) Again: blaming others for own deficiencies or laziness! I really appreciate the way someone designed the good product with such a reasonable price! My old much more expensive Krups was a lot noisier and ugly! With the price, I will not complain even if it breaks down in 5 years and it has 3 year warranty!
